Round 2 Buriram Free Practices Report

Weather was fine and track temperatures at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram were up for the first of two free practice sessions kicking off at 12.20 today, with local drivers putting on an impressive performance beyond would might be expected of their driver classification. The Sereethoranakul brothers stood at the top of their class, pushing hard to match times of a number of PRO teams, and showing the other AM drivers just what they were capable of on home turf. Fastest in overall classification was Clazzio Racing, with pilots Afiq Yazid and Cozzolino Kei dominating the track, meanwhile among the cup drivers, local favorite Supachai Weeraborwornpong also showed his familiarity with the circuit, posting very respectable times.

The second session started at 15.45; with the circuit now damp from earlier afternoon showers, a number of drivers were slow to venture out onto a treacherous track. However with tropical downpours being a regular occurrence in Thailand, for those unfamiliar with the track it was an opportunity not to be missed. The session was initially slower, with teams opting to run on slicks despite the drying but tricky conditions. The practice featured a couple of spins in the more slippery sections, but the laps got faster as the circuit dried towards the close of the session, Clazzio Racing again posting the overall quickest time and matching their fastest lap from Free Practice 1. In Free Practice 2, Gabriele Murroni driving for Petri Corse topped the times in the Lamborghini Cup Class, whilst in other classes final classification was much the same as in the first free practice session.

Teams are now looking forward to tomorrow, with Qualifying starting at 09:50 (TST) and Race 1 at 13:40 (TST)
